Standpipe

Hi all,

Its time for this month’s news from Kariong Rural Fire Brigade.

As summer draws to a close, we near the end of the Fire Season in March. Despite some very hot weather, the Central Coast experienced a quiet season. Across the state and country a number of large fires occurred. Kariong was involved in the fire fighting effort across a number of these fires providing both vehicles and fire fighters.

As Autumn brings the chilly weather, the brigade would like to remind residents to be safe and check heating and electrical appliances. Faulty appliances such as heated blankets often lead to a spike in house fires during winter. As the clocks move back in April, it is also important to ensure your smoke alarms are functioning properly and to change the batteries.

That’s it for now, Stay Safe and be Firewise.
