If you think you are gambling and drinking too much try keeping an accurate record of how much you are drinking and gambling, what venue you go to most, what time of day you go and what mood you are in when you chose to drink and gamble. Next set your limits – limit the amount of time you spend at the venue, limit how much money you take with you and limit the number of alcoholic drinks you consume.

If you feel you can’t stick to these limits, consider taking a break from drinking and gambling for 2-6 weeks. If the idea of a break worries you, it may be a sign that you need professional support to develop deeper, more personalised strategies to overcome these habits.
